Halloween

<

Halloween is a magical time for our kids. They love to dress up as anyone they chose. We have always had lots of fun deciding on and creating costumes. This year Mark chose to be The Incredible Hulk with his cool inflatable muscle costume. Doesn't he look particularly menacing pushing Hannah in her stroller! I was Sally from the movie Nightmare Before Christmas.

Christine debated for quite a while what she would be this year. She really wanted to be the Joker from her favorite movie Batman. However, he really isn't all that cute! Eventually she chose to be a cute blue haired witch, her best friend Megan wore a matching pink witch costume. I never got a picture of them together however. As it turns out Grandma Marcia was a blue witch also.

Benjamin chose to be two-face from the movie Batman Dark Knight. His costume was the hardest and the only one I made this year. He figured out how to create his face and told me what to buy - like liquid latex (which I had never heard of before). I was not sure if I could make it work but it turned out quite realistic! We went to the DI together and got clothes that I cut in half and sewed together to create the suit, shirt and tie. It was fun to make and even more fun to see him all dressed up in it.

Daniel was an evil court knight that fights gladiators. He made sure that I typed in the title correctly. He looked great and had some cool accessories. He sure makes one handsome 'evil' knight.

Rachel was Sharpay from High School Musical. She is our little drama queen after all. She is always singing and quite a social girl and loves fashion. Her Halloween character fit her personality quite well - except that she is much sweeter.

Johnny was Commander Cody, a storm trooper from Star Wars. He chose this character and I held my breath to see if he would actually wear it and to my excitement he did! This is the first year that we have not had any difficulty getting Johnny to wear a costume. He has always sort of been afraid to dress up and has had some hesitation about it. Last year we bought him a buzz lightyear costume and he refused to wear it. I did however get to wear the cute dalmatian that I made for Benjamin when he was little. This year was entirely different however. He had no hesitation at all and was quite pleased with his storm trooper costume!

Isaac was batman and he was thrilled. He adores batman. He has never seen a movie with batman in it but somehow is enthralled with him. He loves to play with Benjamin's batman legos and refers to them as 'my batman.' He looked so cute and was the cutest little batman ever.

Hannah was a kitty. When I got the costume I thought it was a cute little skunk, but my children informed me that the tail was a cat's and they were right. She had a fabulous time crawling around the floor getting in to all the kids bags of candy. She would take some and chew the wrapper until she got some of the candy to melt in her mouth. I was so busy with the party that it was actually nice to have her diverted! She had a great time and her first taste of chocolate as well!

We had an Anderson family part at our house. We try to take turns with the Anderson and Christiansen families for Halloween party at our house each year. The party was fun and we even had beautiful weather. We sat around the fire pit and talked while the children played in the yard. It was furn for the cousins to trick-or-treat together. We love Halloween. It is always one of our favorite times of the year.

After the party we had a big sleepover with all the cousins. No wonder the children love Halloween!

Well see! Your blog sight isn't suffering from 'bitrot' afterall!
Does everyone reading the blog know how to see all your cute pictures of the costumes you've described on facebook, Elizabeth?
I love Mark's hulk ones on there.
By the way, if you haven't got Davin and Mary to SKYPE you yet, you're in for a real treat! He has this program on his computer that lets him superimpose HIS eyes and mouth into 'funny pictures'...like cats, sharks, a funny-lookin' baby, the monalisa..and put a pigs snout on HIS actual face, wear a king's crown on his head (or Mary's)...and several other funny things. It's quite hilarious actually.
Sending Dan's and my love to our Loganites! Nice-- no, actually a GREAT--concert Saturday night, Elizabeth. Congratulations on a job very well done.

It is nice to see you all had such a nice Halloween. The costumes are outstanding particularly Two-Face and the Nightmare Before Christmas.

Mark seems like a natural for the Hulk - all that radiation and him getting stronger the madder he gets!

I really like Benjamin's costume. How clever. It reminds me of Jekyll and Hyde. And I really love the last picture of Isaac sleeping by the pumpkin. I looks like we missed a great party. Wish we could've been there!
